MICRONAUTS Has Found Its Writer and Director in HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON'S Dean DeBlois

Paramount Pictures and Hasbro have been looking to make a movie based on the Marvel comic and toy line of Micronauts for a long time now, and it looks like the project is finally making some progress. The film has found its writer and director with Dean DeBlois, who wrote and directed the How to Train Your Dragon films, as well as the Lilo & Stitch movies and series. With those titles under his belt, it sounds like the classic toys are definitely in good hands.

Variety offers the following story details:

The film will be based on the eponymous intergalactic explorer action figures made by Mego, based on a line by Japanese toy company Takara, that spawned a comic book series in the late 1970s and ’80s. The Marvel Comics series followed a small group of characters that formed a resistance after the dictator Baron Karza killed the royal family.

Paramount has snagged a release date of June 4, 2021, which is a great summer movie slot, so it will be fun to see how the movie comes together. Are you a fan of the Micronauts?
