Microsoft is Trying to Patent New Detachable Controllers for Mobile Devices
Windows Latest recently brought people’s attention to a new patent application from Microsoft for rechargeable, detachable controllers for mobile devices.
According to the report, the controls will block “very little or none of the display area” on said mobile device like your phone or tablet. Based on the images in the patent application, the controls don’t look very comfortable, but they’re probably better than most touchscreen controls.
Of course, I’m sure that this controller is being developed for when Microsoft launches xCloud, the service that will let you play your Xbox games anywhere, including on your phone. Seems a bit easier to attach these controls than to have an Xbox One controller and dock handy.
