Mike Colter Reportedly Set To Return As Luke Cage But Will We See Him In DAREDEVIL: BORN AGAIN Season 2?
It looks like Mike Colter is gearing up to step back into the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Luke Cage. Multiple scoopers are claiming that Colter’s return as Power Man is happening, and there’s speculation that he could show up in Daredevil: Born Again Season 2.
Earlier this year, both Colter and Finn Jones (Danny Rand/Iron Fist) were spotted in New York while Born Again Season 2 was filming. The two actors confirmed their NYC trips on social media, instantly sparking theories that Marvel might finally be setting up the “Heroes for Hire” in live-action within the MCU.
Colter later fanned the flames even more by posting an image of his Luke Cage character on his Instagram Stories.
Scoopers Daniel Richtman and MTTSH have now reported that Colter is indeed returning as the official MCU version of Luke Cage. What remains unclear is whether he’ll actually appear in Born Again Season 2 or if Marvel is holding him back for a later project, as talks of a third season are already in early planning.
One thing we do know is that Krysten Ritter is confirmed to be back as Jessica Jones. With Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) going to war against Mayor Wilson Fisk (Vincent D’Onofrio) and his anti-vigilante task force, it would make sense for him to call in backup from his old Defender allies.
The Season 1 finale left Daredevil in need of muscle, and bringing in Jones, Cage, and maybe Danny Rand would balance the fight in a big way.
How many other heroes will be recruited into Murdock’s army is still a mystery, but everything we’re hearing points to Season 2 featuring more super-powered allies than expected.
When asked earlier this year about reprising his role as Power Man, Colter kept things vague but hopeful, saying:
"I still have hopes for it. I don't think about it anymore. I think there's always time. I don't think it's impossible. Anything can happen."
So, will we see Colter show up in Daredevil: Born Again Season 2, or is Marvel saving Luke Cage’s return for something bigger down the line? We’ll have to wait and see.
