Mike Flanagan Reunites With 11 Familiar Faces for His New EXORCIST Movie

Mike Flanagan is assembling a group of actors he clearly loves working with for his upcoming untitled Exorcist movie, and the lineup is packed with performers fans of his past projects will instantly recognize.

According to Deadline, Flanagan has brought 11 frequent collaborators into the cast, including Rahul Kohli, Hamish Linklater, Gil Bellows, Carl Lumbly, Robert Longstreet, Matt Biedel, Samantha Sloyan, Kate Siegel, John Gallagher Jr., Benjamin Pajak, and Carla Gugino.

If you’ve been following Flanagan’s work over the years, that list probably feels like a reunion. The filmmaker has built a trusted circle of actors across his projects, similar to the way Ryan Murphy regularly brings back familiar faces across his own shows.

Many of these actors appeared together in Midnight Mass and The Fall of the House of Usher, two of Flanagan’s recent Netflix horror miniseries.

Others from this group have popped up across several of his other films and shows including Oculus, Hush, Ouija: Origin of Evil, Gerald’s Game, The Haunting of Hill House, The Haunting of Bly Manor, The Midnight Club, and The Life of Chuck.

At the moment, character details for these actors are being kept under wraps, and the story itself is still a mystery. What we do know is that the film will tell a completely new story set in the Exorcist universe and isn’t connected to the events of The Exorcist: Believer, which hit theaters in 2023.

The movie already had an impressive lineup attached before this announcement. The previously revealed cast includes Scarlett Johansson, Jacobi Jupe, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Laurence Fishburne, John Leguizamo, Sasha Calle, and Diane Lane.

Production is currently underway in New York City, with Universal Pictures planning to release the film in theaters on March 12, 2027.

Flanagan has proven time and time again that he knows how to craft memorable horror, and bringing so many of his trusted collaborators along for this new chapter in the Exorcist universe makes this project even more exciting.

Fans who have followed his work across film and television will probably enjoy spotting familiar faces when this one finally hits theaters.
