Mike Flanagan Reveals The Cast of His Next Project THE MIDNIGHT CLUB

Mike Flanagan, the filmmaker who brought us The Haunting of Hill House, is developing yet another series for Netflix titled The Midnight Club.

The horror anthology project is based on the novels by Christopher Pike and centers on a group of terminally ill teenagers. The story is set at Rotterdam Home, a hospice for these teenagers. They end up forming the titular Midnight Club and meet every night to tell each other scary stories. They also make a pact that whoever is the first to die will attempt to contact the others from beyond the grave.

Flanagan has now announced the cast of the young series, which includes Adia, Igby Rigney, Ruth Codd, William Chris Sumpter, Aya Furukawa, Annarah Shephard, and Sauriyan Sapkota

Zach Gilford, Samantha Sloyan, and Matt Biedel have joined the cast in unspecified supporting roles, along with A Nightmare on Elm Street's Heather Langenkamp, who will play the enigmatic doctor who runs the teens' hospice. In regards to her casting, Flanagan said:

"To horror fans like myself, Heather is royalty, and I am so excited to work with her.”

The series will also incorporate other Pike works. Pike’s other young adult books include The Thirst and Chain Letter series, as well as the Remember Me and Alosha books. He is also the author of several adult novels, including Sati and The Blind Mirror.

Flanagan is creating the series along with Leah Fong, and he had this to say about the series:

“I've been dreaming of this project since I was a teenager, and I cannot wait to embark on yet another adventure with my @intrepid partner in crime (and television) Trevor Macy, as well as the fantastic crew we've been cultivating. More to come as we get closer to shooting.”

I’m a big fan of Flanagan’s work and I’m sure he’s going to do some awesome things with this series as he brings it to life.
