Miles Teller Joins Jonah Hill in ARMS AND THE DUDES
The Hangover director Todd Phillips is working on a movie called Arms and the Dudes, based on a crazy-but-true Rolling Stone article that tells the story of two twenty-something Miami Beach stoners who worked the system and earned a $300 million weapons contract from the U.S. government to supply guns to allies in Afghanistan during the war. The story is absolutely nuts (I read almost all of the article - it's insanely long and I didn't have time to finish it before I had to write this up), and Jesse Eisenberg and Shia LaBeouf were once in talks to play the leads.
Now Deadline reports that Whiplash star Miles Teller will join Jonah Hill in the film, with Teller playing David Packouz, a 25-year-old college dropout who was working as a massage therapist before joining his friend Efraim Diveroli (Hill) in beating out massive US companies and scoring hugely lucrative international arms deals. This seems like a great project for Phillips, and Teller and Hill are both super talented young guys who should have no problem pulling this off. If you have the time, you should read the full Rolling Stone piece, but I'm guessing the movie will be out sometime next year.
