Miles Teller Set to Star in Remake of AN OFFICER AND A GENTLEMAN

Miles Teller (Top Gun: Maverick) is set to star in a remake of the 1982 film An Officer and a Gentleman, which starred Richard Gere, Louis Gossett Jr., and Debra Winger.

The story follows Zack Mayo, a young man with a troubled past, who enrolls in the U.S. Navy's Officer Candidate School to become a naval aviator.

Under the rigorous training and harsh discipline of Drill Sergeant Emil Foley, Zack struggles to find his place and prove his worth. Along the way, he forms a romantic relationship with Paula Pokrifki, a local factory worker.

The original movie is great, and it was a huge hit at the box office. It also ended up landing seven Oscar nominations, and it made Gere and Winger two of the decade’s biggest movie stars.

This lead character in the film is a safe and easy role for Teller to take on because it’s the kind of role that he’s used to playing. He’s played a lot of characters with troubled pasts who embark on a journey of self-discovery.

Hollywood is never going to stop remaking movies. If you’ve never seen the original, it’s definitely worth the time to check out.

The original draft of the script was written by Matt Johnson, with the latest draft coming from Dana Fox.

Teller recently wrapped production on the Apple Studios movie The Gorge, co-starring Anya Taylor-Joy and directed by Scott Derrickson.

He also recently wrapped production on the Michael Jackson pic Michael where he plays Jackson’s lawyer John Branca, and he also has the A24 pic Eternity where he co-stars opposite Elizabeth Olsen.
