Miles Teller Talks About the Scene in TOP GUN: MAVERICK That Made Him Stop Acting Because He Thought He Might Die
Top Gun: Maverick was an incredible sequel to one of the most popular ‘80s movies of all time. It had a lot to live up to over three decades later, and it delivered in a huge way. The action and visuals alone were incredible, and the story and acting were great.
The film stars Tom Cruise in the returning role of Maverick, and he is joined by Miles Teller as Goose’s son, Rooster, as well as the other leading members of the new Top Gun naval crew, including Monica Barbaro as Phoenix; Lewis Pullman as Bob; Jay Ellis as Payback; Danny Ramirez as Fanboy; and Glen Powell as Hangman.
The new class did a great job telling the story, but some of the stunts and aerial work proved to be more than some of the actors bargained for. In a recent interview with LAD Bible, Miles Teller talked about his experience making the film, and a particularly frightening situation he found himself in:
"I definitely had a moment where I thought I was going to die. There was a sequence where we were heading straight towards the ground and you do what's called a max G pull-up. You're heading down and at the last second you yank up, and it's really tough for the pilot. It's something they train in all the time, but it was the first time we'd done a maneuver like that and I completely stopped acting. I looked at the ground, and thought this wasn't going to end well for me."
There were so many intense scenes in the movie that I’m sure were crazy to film! I can’t imagine getting into these jets and executing them while keeping my cool. If you haven’t seen Top Gun: Maverick yet, get to the theatre and see it on the big screen as soon as possible!
