Milla Jovovich Is Back in Action in First Look at the New Thriller PROTECTOR
Milla Jovovich is stepping back into the line of fire in Protector, a gritty new action thriller that puts a maternal twist on survival.
Highland Film Group has just released the first official image from the film, and it features Jovovich in the role of Nikki, a former war hero who’s traded bloodshed for peace, living quietly with her daughter Chloe.
But that fragile calm is shattered when Nikki wakes up in an abandoned factory, disoriented, alone, and with Chloe missing. From there, things escalate fast.
The description for the film reads: “Nikki’s quiet life is shattered when she wakes up in an abandoned factory, only to discover that Chloe has been kidnapped. After she quickly escapes, Nikki plunges into the city’s criminal underworld and in her quest to find Chloe.
“As she desperately searches for her daughter, she draws the attention of both the police and the military, shooting her to the top of the most wanted list. As she goes deeper, she uncovers a shocking truth that threatens everything she’s fighting for.
“In this high-stakes race against time, Nikki must find the strength she thought she left behind to restore the hero her daughter desperately needs.”
It’s a high-octane setup that sounds like a perfect project for Jovovich, who built her action legacy as the face of the Resident Evil franchise. Joining her are Matthew Modine and Isabel Myers .
Protector was directed by Adrian Grünberg, known for Rambo: Last Blood and Get the Gringo, and written by Bong-Seeb Munby. Production recently wrapped in New Mexico.
There’s no release date just yet.
