Millie Bobby Brown Talks About the Pact She Made With the Duffer Brothers About the STRANGER THINGS Finale
Stranger Things was one of the biggest and most popular shows to debut over the last ten years, and this past holiday season, it came to an end with its fifth and final season.
The finale left fans divided about the amount of action in the battle against Vecna, as well as the fate of the character Eleven, played by Millie Bobby Brown.
While some fans believe she died, others believe the story Mike told in the Dungeons & Dragons game with his friends represented Eleven’s real fate, but it hasn’t been confirmed one way or the other.
But someone knowns the truth… three someones to be exact. Brown has a pact with the show’s creators, the Duffer Brothers, and is sworn to secrecy. She spoke about it in a recent interview on the Happy Sad Confused podcast’s live recording at the 92nd Street Y.
“They were like, ‘Do not tell anyone. Because we made it a secret kind of pledge,'“ Brown explained. “No one else knows. It’s just us three. And what we do with that information, it’ll be up to them.”
Podcast host Josh Horowitz asked the audience what they thought happened to Eleven, and a majority said that Brown’s character had survived, with the Stranger Things star adding, “We have a hopeful audience. I love that!”
Following up on if Eleven died or is alive, Brown added, “All people say now is, ‘Do you believe?’ And of course I believe. I have to believe, honestly — otherwise January will come around again.” Ending the series left Brown with a “slight, slight depression,” but she had her co-stars to reach out to and share their experiences.
After the Stranger Things finale, Brown has continued to work with Netflix, starring in the third installment of Enola Holmes, premiering July 1st on the streamer. Brown also has a number of films in development, including Just Picture It and Nineteen Steps, an adaptation of her debut novel.
