Milly Alcock Opens Up About Her Biggest Fears Around the Release of SUPERGIRL
Supergirl is now in theaters, and it hasn’t received the reviews DC Studios was hoping for. While the main complaints have been the film’s script and villain arc, star Milly Alcock’s performance, as well as Jason Momoa’s Lobo, have been praised generally across the board.
It‘s too bad they weren’t able to portray their characters in a film that was better received by fans, but I’m sure this isn’t the end of the road for them.
In an interview that took place in April, ahead of Variety’s big May 2026 Film Slate issue, and head of the film’s final screenings and release, Milly Alcock talked about her fears around the possibility of the film not doing well. She first stated her hopes for the movie, saying:
“Well, I hope that people see it in the theater. I think they will? You’re meant to have a massive screen, and the sound is so important to the film. Music is at the center of that. I hope a lot of young girls see it.
“I hope a lot of young women see it. I hope new people who aren’t into superhero films go see it. And I hope it makes people think about who a female hero can be, and what stories they can tell. And that people will go see it.”
When asked about her fears, she explained:
“I mean, that it won’t do well, obviously. That I will never work again! The obvious ones — that I’ll be rejected in some way. But I have a good support system around me in terms of my friends and family. So I think that’s what matters. This isn’t real life, you know?”
I think Milly Alcock will be fine. She has proven her place in the MCU, and despite the setback, I think fans will be happy to see her return as the character in Man of Tomorrow and beyond.
She has also showed her range in a variety of film and TV projects, and she will hopefully continue to expand herself through her work.
