Min Min from ARMS Joins SUPER SMASH BROS. ULTIMATE

Well, this morning, Masahiro Sakurai revealed to fans that Min Min would be the character from ARMS to join the roster of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. She is the first character from Fighter Pass 2 to be added to the game and will arrive on June 29!

Min Min looks like she’ll be a lot of fun. She appears to be more of a brawler with some ranged tricks up her sleeve like a lasers and her extending arms. She’s designed to bring down the heavy fighters, but according to Sakurai, will struggle against the lighter characters. Her basic and smash attacks extend her left arm which you can even bend it around. Meanwhile, her B attack will extend her right arm. You can have both arms extend at the same time or vary them for combos. Min Min does not do well at close range though, so keep that in mind.

Min Min’s down B changes the weapon in her right hand. Ramram is a chakram with a wide attack range. Megawatt is the studded ball and it’s slow and short, but very powerful. Dragon is the same as her left hand and if you hold down the buttons, it’ll shoot a laser beam after extending. Mid-air attacks look the same, but each arm has a different speed with Ramram as the quickest and Megawatt as the slowest.

If your opponents get in close, Min Min can unleash some kicks to get them to back off. Simply tap instead of hold the A button. If you do her up smash, the sommersault kick, it serves as a projectile reflector, too! Min Min’s down tilt with kicks is a slide for moving across the arena and her down tilt in the air is a dive kick.

Min Min’s up B changes depending on where you are. If you’re on the ground, your ARMS push you into the air. If you use it in the air, it’ll extend your ARMS to grab ledges.

The new stage coming with Min Min is Spring Stadium, which has platforms causing you to jump. This is a little funny to me since Min Min isn’t supposed to be good in the air, but I think it could add a fun dynamic.

The Mii costumes coming are for Ninjara from ARMS, Heihachi from TEKKEN, Callie & Marie from Splatoon, and Vault Boy from Fallout. Remember, these are all separate purchases for $0.75 each.

Min Min is available for $5.99 or as part of Fighters Pass Vol. 2 for $29.99. The Fighters Pass will include Min Min, Spring Stadium, and five more fighters and stages yet to be announced. Plus, you get music tracks.

Sakurai also revealed a few new features coming to the game. Some Spirit Battles will have the opponent change if you’ve purchased the appropriate Mii costume. For instance, if you bought the Cuphead costume, then you’ll fight Cuphead Mii Gunner instead of Mega Man in that Spirit Battle. Also, they’re introducing a new Spirit Rematch feature where you can have rematches against spirits you’ve already collected to get high scores.

If you’re a fan of amiibo figures, Joker and Hero are getting their own figures this fall. Also, Sakurai dropped the bomb that apparently Final Smashes were originally planned for the N64 version of Super Smash Bros. before the idea was dropped.
