Mint Condition Original PlayStation Unboxed to Celebrate 20th Anniversary
I remember unboxing my original Sony PlayStation. That thing was awesome, and it changed video games forever. When I was a teenager, I spent every extra moment I had playing that thing. These days, I spend more of my time writing about video games than actually playing them.
I can't believe that it's been 20 years since PlayStation was launched in the U.S. All of these anniversaries of things that I loved when I was growing up is really making me feel old.
Woo-hoo! The original PlayStation launched in North America 20 years ago today, on September 9th, 1995. To commemorate the big day, we thought it might be fun to crack open a sealed original PlayStation system.
Let’s take a trip to a time before dual analog sticks and force feedback, when game saves were stored on tiny plastic cards, when a double-speed CD-ROM drive and 2MB of RAM were your ticket to the biggest gaming experiences possible. Gather ‘round to see what greeted gamers on September 9th, 1995.
I can see why that they would want to unbox a mint condition original PlayStation to celebrate 20 years. But as a collector of things that I don't open the boxes for, it hurts to watch. That being said, it's still pretty cool to see, and now I want to play an original PlayStation.
