MOBILE SUIT GUNDAM: IRON-BLOODED ORPHANS Spin-Off Gets a Cool Poster and Trailer

It was recently confirmed that Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans was getting a spin-off and now we have a poster, a trailer, and some new details. The spin-off is called Mobile Suit: Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans: Urðr-Hunt and will take place in the same year as the original series, P.D. 323. Here’s a bit of a synopsis:

The spinoff’s story is set in the year P.D. 323, the same year as the television anime’s story. Gjallarhorn’s political intervention in the Arbrau Central Parliament escalated into an armed conflict using mobile suits. The incident was brought to an end by Tekkadan, a group of youths who came from Mars.

Word of Tekkadan’s exploits even reached the ears of Wistario Afam, a boy born and raised in the Radonitsa Colony floating above Venus. Venus, which lost a terraforming rivalry with Mars, is a remote planet for which even the four major economic blocs has shown little interest. The inhabitants do not even carry IDs, and the planet is just used as a place to exile criminals.

Wistario wishes to change the status quo of his birthplace — and then, appearing before him, is a girl who claims to be the guide to the Urðr-Hunt.

In addition, here are some descriptions of the characters thanks to ANN:

  • Wistario Afam

Wistario Afam, a boy born and raised in the Radonitsa Colony floating above Venus. His parents died early in his childhood, and he inherited the vestiges of the colony management company Afam Equipment. He is cheerful, with a strong resolution and big dreams of turning Venus into a tourism destination.
  • Demunaa Kitako Junior

Demunaa Kitako Junior, a man who served as a teacher and caretaker since Wistario’s birth. He looks strict and severe at first glance, but ultimately has a strong tendency to pamper Wistario. For many years, he has been secretly maintaining the Gundam Hajiroboshi.
  • Korunaru Kosa

Korunaru Kōsa, a mysterious girl who appeared before Wistario, claiming to be the guide to the Urðr-Hunt. In addition to her proper and polite manners, she speaks with a calm tone that belies her apparent age. As she rarely changes her expression, it is hard to get a read on her. She like brewing tea.
  • Gundam Hajiroboshi

The Gundam Hajiroboshi is a mobile suit hidden deep in Radonitsa Colony’s power section. Demunaa inherited the duties of managing this unit from his late grandfather, and he has secretly kept maintaining it. When the colony is attacked by unknown mobile suits, Wistario pilots this Gundam and awakens it from its long slumber.

No release date has been given yet for the series, but I imagine it’ll be later this year. Are you excited?
