Molly Ringwald and LeVar Burton Join Universal’s Wild New Comedy ONE NIGHT ONLY
Molly Ringwald and LeVar Burton are officially stepping into Universal Pictures’ upcoming comedy One Night Only. The two beloved icons join Monica Barbaro and Callum Turner in what could be one of next summer’s more intriguing high-concept comedies.
The movie is based on Travis Braun’s Black List script, which follows two strangers who desperately try to find someone to sleep with during the only night of the year when premarital sex is legal.
Will Gluck (Easy A, Friends with Benefits) wrote the latest version of the screenplay, and he will also direct the film. It’s safe to say audiences can expect his signature mix of sharp comedy and emotional honesty.
According to Deadline, Ringwald will play Turner’s mom, while Burton will portray her partner.
Ringwald has been on a roll recently, appearing in Ryan Murphy’s Feud: Capote and the Swans, the Netflix limited series Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, FX’s acclaimed The Bear, The CW’s Riverdale, and the indie thriller Bad Things, which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival.
Of course, for many fans, she’ll forever be remembered as the face of a generation in classic coming-of-age films like Pretty in Pink, The Breakfast Club, and Sixteen Candles.
Meanwhile, Burton continues to be one of Hollywood’s most respected and inspiring talents. He is currently hosting and executive producing Trivial Pursuit for Lionsgate, Hasbro, and The CW. His legacy as a champion of education and literacy through Reading Rainbow, which earned over 200 broadcast awards.
One Night Only seems like it could end up a clever, comedic look at love, connection, and the chaos that comes when the rules of romance are turned upside down.
