MONKEY'S MAGIC MERRY GO ROUND Trailer Turns Kids TV Into a Twisted Horror Ride

There’s something deeply unsettling about seeing childhood innocence flip into something sinister, and that’s exactly what the new trailer for Monkey’s Magic Merry Go Round delivers. It’s like a twisted imagining of Mr. Roger’s Nieghborhood.

What starts as a colorful kids’ show quickly spirals into a surreal nightmare, with puppets that look like they crawled straight out of a bad dream.

The film drops viewers into the fractured mind of a children’s television host who can’t trust what he’s seeing or remembering.

The official synopsis reads: “After a mysterious bout of amnesia, a beloved children’s television host struggles to piece together his fractured memories, only to find his once-cheerful puppet co-stars behaving with sinister intent. As reality unravels, the line between performance and nightmare begins to blur.”

The project comes from Michael Gilio, known for writing Dark Harvest and Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, who also takes on a starring role here.

The film is directed by Aidan Leary, making his feature debut, with a screenplay he co-wrote alongside C.R. Thompson. It’s a fresh creative team, but one that seems ready to make a fun first impression.

Backing the film is producer Joe Swanberg, whose genre credits include You’re Next and Offseason, as part of the Terror Town slate from Yale Productions.

Executive producer Nicholas Donnermeyer said of the film: “I am blown away by what this team of accomplished. Leary and Thompson immediately announce themselves as bold new talents. It’s very rare to come across a debut feature that is so assured and precise in its execution. This film is a trip. I can’t wait to see this with an audience.”

Monkey’s Magic Merry Go Round is set to stream exclusively on Screambox starting May 19, 2026. If you’ve got a soft spot for psychological horror with a bizarre twist, this one looks like it might be worth the ride.
