Milla Jovovich's MONSTER HUNTER Movie Will Mostly Use Creatures from MONSTER HUNTER WORLD
The upcoming Monster Hunter film adaptation from Paul W.S. Anderson confuses the heck out of me. There’s not too much of a story element to the game, so I was wondering what they wanted to do. Then, they shared photos of modern military outfits and weapons and my confusion spiked.
We do know that story for the film centers on the leader of a UN military team (Milla Jovovich) who is transported to another realm populated by monsters. That where she teams up with a Hunter (Tony Jaa) to close a portal to prevent monsters from attacking Earth.
They basically just made up their own story, but It looks like it will somehow connect to the games though since Anderson recently told /Film that he’s planning on using monsters from the video game franchise in the movie, but with an emphasis on monsters from Monster Hunter World:
“Listen, I don’t need to create any new monsters. There’s such a vast array of amazing creatures over the years. We’re leaning quite heavily on the favorite creatures from Monster Hunter World which is the latest game, but we’re also bringing in what I think are some of the fabulous monsters from some of the earlier games and well, and some of the imagery from the earlier games. So I think for fans of Monster Hunter World, you’ll recognize that world and the characters from that world very much, but also it’ll be a callback to some of the favorite moments and creatures from some of the earlier games, which hopefully will get people excited to check out those earlier games as well because there’s some magnificent imagery and monsters in those earlier games as well that I think a lot of people who have just played Monster Hunter World may not be aware of.”
The film is being produced by Constantine Films and will also star Ron Perlman. and Diego Boneta.
What are your thoughts on the direction that Anderson is taking this movie?
