MONSTER Season 3 Casts Laurie Metcalf as Ed Gein's Mother; Tom Hollander as Alfred Hitchcock; and More
Ryan Murphy’s Monster anthology series, which told the story of Jeffrey Dahmer in Season 1, and the Menendez Brothers in the recent second season, has expanded the cast list for Season 3. Last month it was revealed that Charlie Hunnam would lead Season 3 as the infamous serial killer Ed Gein. Now we have a few more actors added to the cast list.
Laurie Metcalf (Roseanne) will play Gein’s mother, Augusta, Tom Hollander (Feud) will play Alfred Hitchcock, and Olivia Williams (The Crown) will play Alma Reville, Hitchcock’s wife.
Given that Gein served as one of the inspirations for Norman Bates and Hitchcock’s film Psycho, it would appear Season 3 of the hit Netflix anthology will delve into how Gein’s crimes influenced the film and the novel upon which the film was based.
Gein became infamous in the 1950s when authorities discovered that he not only had killed multiple people, but had dug up graves from a cemetery near his home and fashioned all manner of household items and clothing from human remains.
I like the direction this is taking. Not only will we get the story of Gein, but also of one of the most famous films he inspired.
