MOON KNIGHT Director Mohamed Diab Discusses the Future of the Character
There’s no word on what the future of Moon Knight is in the MCU, but the series ended in a way that leaves the character wide open to be explored further. The finale of the series definitely didn’t feel like the end of the story.
Oscar Isaac recently said that there are no plans for the story to continue saying, "You know, I think we approached it as 'this is the story, and let's just put everything out on the table on this story. There’s definitely no official plans to continue it. I think it would depend on what the story is."
Well, the director of the series, Mohamed Diab, doesn’t know if Marvel wants to continue playing with this character or not, but he certainly hopes that they do! He believes that the character is here to stay. While talking to Variety, he shared:
"If you ask me, I would tell you that Moon Knight is here to stay. He's an interesting character. If you are Marvel, I think the smart business decision is to keep him. The only thing is, Marvel is not traditional. If you succeed, it doesn't mean you're gonna get a Season 2. By the way, I'm kept in the dark. I have no clue. I'm just thinking as a businessman right now. But I think they're going to stay. Maybe it's going to be a film. Maybe it's going to be a journey like what happened with WandaVision. I wish one day, if there is an expansion, I would be a part of it. We ended in a way that feels like a beginning. You see Mark and Steven becoming a new dynamic, the two of them in one body. We see Jake. You see the Scarlet Scarab, who could be a superhero or not. Very interesting stuff."
Yep, there was a lot of interesting stuff that felt unresolved by the end of the series. I’m sure that Marvel will continue to explore these characters, it’s only a matter of when and how.
What did you think of the Moon Knight series and what would you like to see happen with the character in a future project?
