MOON KNIGHT Director Sees Oscar Isaac's Character Being a Part of the MCU For The Next 10 Years
Moon Knight series director Mohamed Diab has a big vision for Oscar Isaac's character and hopes that he has a long life in the MCU. He also hopes that he gets to make a Moon Knight film one day.
In a recent interview with SFX Magazine/GamesRadar, the filmmaker shared: “I dream and wish for a film. But with Marvel, the way they play it, it’s not like you graduate into a film. You can go into a film and come to a TV show and go back."
Diab continues: "It’s like a crazy world. Even with the successful shows, like WandaVision, they’re not doing season two. She jumped into a film, maybe she’s going to come back or not. I don’t know. And that’s exciting."
The filmmaker is confident in Moon Knight’s strength as a main player in the MCU and he believes that he can see the character being a part of this universe for the next ten years: "But I can tell you for a fact, I can see him in the next 10 years, not just the next film. He’s a very interesting character. He’s probably the most interesting character for any actor to play. Oscar is doing a great job. People already like him even from the trailer. I think the show’s going to resonate with people, so I see him staying for a long time."
I’ve loved what I’ve seen from the show so far and I have a feeling that this series is actually going to be as good as it looks. Hell, there’s a chance that it might even exceed expectations.
The show is described as "a new globetrotting action-adventure series featuring a complex vigilante who suffers from dissociative identity disorder. The multiple identities who live inside him find themselves thrust into a deadly war of the gods against the backdrop of modern and ancient Egypt."
The synopsis goes on to say that the story follows Steven Grant, “a mild-mannered gift-shop employee, who becomes plagued with blackouts and memories of another life. Steven discovers he has dissociative identity disorder and shares a body with mercenary Marc Spector. As Steven/Marc's enemies converge upon them, they must navigate their complex identities while thrust into a deadly mystery among the powerful gods of Egypt.”
The series also stars Ethan Hawke as the main villain, a cult leader named Arthur Harrow. Moon Knight was created by Doug Moench and Don Perlin and appeared in the August 1975 issue Werewolf by Night #32. Jeremy Slater (The Umbrella Academy) and Beau DeMayo (The Originals and The Witcher) are writing the series. Mohamed Diab, Justin Benson, and Aaron Moorhead are directing.
Moon Knight will be released on Disney+ on March 30th.
