MOON KNIGHT Writer Says Marvel's X-MEN '97 Animated Series is "Going To Be F**king Awesome"
Marvel fans have been pretty excited about the revival of the classic ‘90s X-Men animated series with X-Men ‘97. The series serves as a direct continuation of the original series and it’s coming from Beau DeMayo (The Witcher, The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf).
I’ve been curious about this series and how it will eventually turn out. I’ve been hearing a lot of mixed stuff behind the scenes. But, according to Moon Knight writer Jeremy Slater, this is a show that fans should be excited for.
During a recent interview with CB, Slater, who worked with DeMayo on Moon Knight said: "Beau DeMayo, who's doing X-Men '97, is one of the best writers I have ever worked with in my life. He's an absolute genius. And the other day, we had our writers' dinner, and he was telling me some of the things they have planned for X-Men '97. I can't say a single thing, except you guys have no idea how excited you should be for that show."
He went on to say that the series is "going to be fucking awesome. That's all I can say about it. But the stuff he was saying — every episode — it was blowing my mind of what he was sort of pitching. So you guys have no idea how excited you should be for that show."
So, that sounds cool! That’s much different from what I’ve been hearing about the show, but I like his enthusiasm and I hope he’s right!
The series brings back original voice cast members Cal Dodd (Wolverine), Lenore Zann (Rogue), George Buza (Beast), Alison Sealy-Smith (Storm), Chris Potter (Gambit), Catherine Disher (Jean Grey), Adrian Hough (Nightcrawler), and Christopher Britton (Minister Sinister). Some of the new cast members include Jennifer Hale, Anniwaa Buachie, Ray Chase, Matthew Waterson, JP Karliak, Holly Chou, Jeff Bennett, and AJ LoCascio.
X-Men ‘97 will premiere on Disney+ sometime in 2023.
