More New Photos From THE DARK TOWER and How the Film Connects to THE SHINING
Yesterday we got a bunch of new information on the upcoming big screen adaptation of Stephen King's The Dark Tower. This included both Idris Elba and Matthew McConaughy talking about the film and their roles as The Gunslinger and The Man in Black, respectively. Now today we've got a bunch of new photos for you to check out! I hope this is all leading up to a trailer reveal soon! The new photos focus on Roland (Elba) and Jake Chambers (Tom Taylor) on their adventure through Mid-World.
I also wanted to point out something that I noticed in one of the EW articles talking about the young character Jake. He is pulled out of the modern world and into Roland's post-apocalyptic wasteland. The character plays a very important part of the story in the first few books, and EW mentions that the film will add an interesting trait to the character. Jake is said to have a special ability called "The Shine," which would, in a way, connect the film to The Shining. As you all know, Danny Torrance also had "The Shine." I just thought I would point that out because I thought that was pretty cool.
The Dark Tower series tells the story of Roland Deschain, Mid-World’s last gunslinger, who is traveling southeast across Mid-World’s post-apocalyptic landscape, searching for the powerful but elusive magical edifice known as The Dark Tower. Located in the fey region of End-World, amid a sea of singing red roses, the Dark Tower is the nexus point of the time-space continuum. It is the heart of all worlds, but it is also under threat. Someone, or something, is using the evil technology of the Great Old Ones to destroy it.
The movie is set to be released on February 17th, 2017, and we'll learn more about the film at Comic-Con next week. Thanks to EW for the photos.
