Another WALKING DEAD Spinoff Teased By Executive Producer Scott Gimple

There are some big things happening with The Walking Dead franchise! Executive producer Scott Gimple recently teased that there is another spinoff in the works at Comic-Con this past weekend. He explained:

“I’m working on something to announce," and the thing that he's developing will affect "the past, present, and future of the universe."

He previously teased that he was looking to explore and mine the universe through "traditional stuff, non-traditional stuff, stuff people don’t expect." He explained:

"We have a bunch of different things in mind, cool new Walking Dead stuff. Some things that are really complementary to the stuff we're doing now and some stuff that's far afield and very different."

One of the things that we don't know is if this spinoff will be another TV series or a movie. There are a few options to choose from when doing a spinoff and a movie is something that could be interesting. Gimple did say that they are open to exploring a wide variety of media to build up the Walking Dead world.

"I’m hoping to do a variety of different projects that are probably more in line with what we see on TV but maybe in different rhythms and formats and things like that. We'll still continue to come out with great digital content but I'm excited about the kind of stuff we can do. But I really am talking about all sides of it and I know we'll have more to talk about soon on that."

Gimple goes on to say that there are "different ways to tell stories, possibly with characters we know and possibly with characters we don’t."

It will be interesting to see what they end up announcing, but it sounds like it's going to be something big!

The Walking Dead premieres season 9 Sunday, October 7th on AMC.
