MoviePass is Making a Comeback as It's Being Relaunched

I’m sure you all remember that movie theater subscription service MoviePass, which also produced that god-awful John Travolta film Gotti. MoviePass came and went like a fart in the wind, but it’s making a comeback as MoviePass cofounder Stacy Spikes has been granted ownership and is relaunching the company. Spikes shared in a statement:

"I can confirm that we acquired MoviePass out of bankruptcy on Wednesday. We are thrilled to have it back and are exploring the possibility of relaunching soon. Our pursuit to reclaim the brand was encouraged by the continued interest from the moviegoing community. We believe, if done properly, theatrical subscription can play an instrumental role in lifting moviegoing attendance to new heights."

MoviePass was a cool concept and I actually enjoyed it for a couple of months before the whole thing started to fall apart and they it kind of became a nightmare to deal with. I will say, though, the company did change things with movie theaters because now most of them offer their own subscription-based services.

Spikes is looking to relaunch MoviePass sometime next year. But, a new website has been created for the relaunch, iwantmoviepass.com, and it also has a new logo which now features a black background with white lettering, ditching its previous red background. You can see the logo above.

Honestly, with most of the big movie theater chains having their own subscription services now, I don’t see much of a future for MoviePass. I won’t be signing up for MoviePass again unless they offer something absolutely incredible, an offer I can’t refuse.

There’s also a chance that maybe they will start producing bad movies again. What do you think about MoviePass relaunching? What could they offer to get you to actually sign up for their service?
