MoviePass Is Reportedly Resubscribing People's Canceled Subscriptions and Preventing Them From Canceling Again
The struggles of MoviePass to stay alive has been crazy to watch, although it would appear the company is just getting started with the crazy. Uproxx is reporting some members have cancelled their accounts, only to receive word from MoviePass that the company decided to resubscribe them in light of recent changes! That's right, people are getting pissed online because MoviePass is re-signing them up for the service and sending the following message:
Please note: if you had previously requested cancellation prior to opting-in, your opt-in to the new plan will take priority and your account will not be canceled.
So basically, MoviePass is telling those that cancelled and then accepted a new opt-in promotion towards the end of their billing cycle that they've been signed up yet again and their cancellation has been cancelled. Truly, this is some shady shit:

What's even crazier is that folks who tried to cancel again were reporting errors on their side that wouldn't let them cancel:
I finally cancelled MoviePass around a month or so ago, although I did get an email from them a couple days ago that prompted me to unsubscribe from their mailing list. Here's hoping that wasn't a notification that they signed me up yet again. If so, I'll be sure to add my name to the list of people getting screwed by the service!
