Movies Anywhere Lets You Watch Movies Together Over Distances Now

Right now, companies are coming up with new ways to let friends and family watch TV and movies together. The latest way to do so is the Watch Together feature from Movies Anywhere. All you need is to go through the Movies Anywhere website or the app in order to create or join a room. Then, you and your friends can watch films in-sync and even react in real-time with chats and emojis. There are a couple of catches though. First, everyone watching the film needs to have purchased it, redeemed a digital code for it, or have access to the film via Screen Pass. Second, the users must have a PG-13 or higher profile rating. Third, bonus features cannot be viewed together via Watch Together.

How to Invite Friends and Family:

1. Log into your MOVIES ANYWHERE account and go to My Movies.

2. Select a movie you wish to Watch Together.

3. From the movie details page of your selected movie, select the “Watch Together” button.

4. In the next screen, select the “I Want to Host” button.

5. Follow the steps to share the 6-character room code or URL with others.

6. Once all guests join the lobby and are set to “Ready,” select “Play Movie” to Watch Together.

How to Join a Room:

If you receive a room code:

1. Log in or create a MOVIES ANYWHERE account.

2. Go to My Movies and select the movie you’ve been invited to Watch Together. If the movie is not in your collection - purchase or redeem a digital code for it, or for eligible movies, request a SCREEN PASS* from your host.

3. From the film’s movie details page, select the “Watch Together” button.

4. Select “I’m a Guest” and when prompted, select “Join a Room” and enter the 6-character room code.

5. You will be placed in the virtual lobby until all guests join, and the host starts the movie.

If you received a URL:

1. Click the URL in the message you received.

2. If already logged in to your MOVIES ANYWHERE account, you will immediately be placed in the Lobby until all guests join and the movie starts.

3. If not logged in, log in or create a MOVIES ANYWHERE account.** After you create your account, you will be placed in the Lobby until all guests join and the host starts the movie.

If you do not have the selected movie in your locker:

1. After logging in or creating your MOVIES ANYWHERE account.

   1. You will see the movie title page and be presented with messaging that the movie must be in your MOVIES ANYWHERE collection to join.

      1. You will have the option to ask the host or another MOVIES ANYWHERE user to send you a SCREEN PASS if the selected movie is SCREEN PASS-eligible*.

      2. Or you may purchase or redeem a digital code for the selected movie in order to join.
