Moving Trailer for Adaptation of Wally Lamb's Bestselling I KNOW THIS MUCH IS TRUE Starring Mark Ruffalo in the Dual Roles
We have a great trailer for you to check out for the series adaptation of author Wally Lamb’s bestselling novel, I Know This Much is True, starring Mark Ruffalo in the two leading roles as twin brothers Dominick and Thomas Birdsey. The HBO limited series is directed by Derek Cianfrance, who has written and directed Blue Valentine and The Place Beyond the Pines. Gina Prince-Bythewood (The Secret Life of Bees) adapted the script.
Here’s the synopsis for the series:
Dominick Birdsey, a forty-year-old housepainter living in Three Rivers, Connecticut, finds his subdued life greatly disturbed when his identical twin brother Thomas, a paranoid schizophrenic, commits a shocking act of self-mutilation. Dominick is forced to care for his brother as well as confront dark secrets and pain he has buried deep within himself—a journey of the soul that takes him beyond his blue-collar New England town to Sicily’s Mount Etna, the birthplace of his grandfather and namesake. Coming to terms with his life and lineage, Dominick struggles to find forgiveness and finally rebuild himself beyond the haunted shadow of his troubled twin.
The series also stars Melissa Leo (The Fighter), Imogen Poots (She’s Funny That Way), Rosie O’Donnell (A League of Their Own), Kathryn Hahn (Transparent), and Juliette Lewis (What’s Eating Gilbert Grape).
This looks to be a heavy emotional drama in which Ruffalo delivers a dual heavy-hitting performance. Hopefully this gets him some awards attention. I like familial dramas, so I’m all in for this one. Check out the trailer below, and see I Know This Much is True on HBO beginning April 27th.
