MR. ROBOT Creator Rumored to Be Writing a Obi-Wan Kenobi STAR WARS STORY Movie

An interesting rumor has surfaced at a site called Omega Underground that claims two separate sources have told them that Mr. Robot creator Sam Esmail will be writing one of the upcoming Star Wars Story movies. According to those sources, the writer has had pitch meetings with the studio and that he is likely looking to be working on an Obi-Wan Kenobi movie.

Obviously, there's no confirmation from Lucasfilm so treat this as a big fat rumor for now. A rumor that I would love to turn out to be true! I love Esmail's Mr. Robot and he's a talented writer with a unique style that could translate really well to the Star Wars universe.

There's been talk of an Obi-Wan Kenobi standalone film for years and it's something that both Lucasfilm and Ewan McGreggor have expressed interest in. The film has never officially been announced, but it's one of those characters that is almost sure to eventually get his own film somewhere down the line. If Esmail is the guy that will be helping develop it... awesome!

If this news is true, I imagine there's also a chance that Esmail could direct it as well. He has directed fifteen episodes of Mr. Robot so far along with a couple of indie films. However, neither of the sources say anything about the possibility of him directing the film.

What do you think about the possibility of Esmail working on a Obi-Wan Kenobi movie?
