MR. ROBOT Creator Sam Esmail Discusses Season 4 and Says It's Going to Be One Long Christmas Special

Thanks to Mr. Robot creator Sam Esmail, we have some new information to share with you regarding the upcoming fourth season of the series. There hasn’t been a lot of information about what is to come, but one thing that we now know is that it will be a festive season!

Esmail says that Season 4 will be “one very long Christmas special.” During a Q&A at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York, the creator of the series explained:

“Is anybody here a fan of British television? Typically how [British shows] wrap up series, like the British ‘Office,’ you tend to do a Christmas special. So the final season of ‘Mr. Robot’ is one very long Christmas special that will last about a week over Christmas of 2015.”

I love that this series is still set in 2015, which is the year that the series launched. I like the fact that they stuck with that timeline and decided not to have any time jumps like some shows do from season to season.

Esmail goes on to say that the series is going to end the exact way that he’s always envisioned it and adds:

“Part of the reason people connected to the show is we wanted to talk about now. The show is still set in 2015 for this reason. The technology will always look dated, but we specifically said, this is about 2015, so it’s almost like a period piece for current day.”

It’ll be interesting to see how how the gloomy noir-style series will look like during the bright and happy holiday Christmas season. I love this show, and I can’t wait to see how it comes to an end.
