Iman Vellani is a newcomer in Hollywood without a credit to her name, but she is the face of the upcoming MCU series Ms. Marvel, and is slated to be a part of the Captain Marvel sequel, The Marvels, that is also in the works. The actress has a big future ahead of her and was recently featured in Variety’s “Power of Young Hollywood” issue that spotlights influential figures who are 25 and younger.

In the issue, Vellani talked about portraying Kamala Kahn, the MCU’s first Muslim superhero, saying:

“The fact that the show is being made and they’re including this character in the MCU is [what’s important]. I don’t really have to go out of my way and talk about being a Muslim and being Pakistani — it all comes out in the show. People seeing a person like me involved in a project as big as this is, I think, inspiring enough.”

It is pretty awesome to be a part of such an awesome new series that is telling stories about a whole new demographic of people. I am stoked for Ms. Marvel and can’t wait to see how it turns out.

Ms. Marvel is set to hit Disney+ sometime later this year, and The Marvels will be released in theaters in 2022.
