MUM, I’M ALIEN PREGNANT Trailer Teases a Slimy, Seriously Weird Kiwi Horror Comedy

Getting pregnant is complicated enough without discovering the father might not be entirely human.

A bonkers new trailer has arrived for the New Zealand horror comedy Mum, I’m Alien Pregnant, and instead of unloading a bunch of footage, this latest preview zeroes in on one ridiculous scene that gives audiences a taste of the movie’s strange sense of humor and gross-out alien pregnancy madness.

The film follows Mary, a directionless slacker living with her mother in New Zealand suburbia who is still trying to figure out what she wants to do with her life. Things get considerably more complicated after an awkward sexual encounter with her weird new neighbor leaves her dealing with an accelerated alien pregnancy.

Mary suddenly has to survive a rapidly changing body, the extraterrestrial creature growing inside her, skeptical doctors, a fairly useless half-alien baby daddy, and an overbearing mother who has no problem getting involved in her business.

Hannah Lynch stars as Mary, with Yvette Parsons playing her mother Cynthia, Arlo Green as Boo, and Jackie van Beek as Ann.

The movie comes from New Zealand filmmaking duo Thunderlips, made up of Sean Wallace and Jordan Mark Windsor. The pair previously made a name for themselves with eccentric music videos and short films, and Mum, I’m Alien Pregnant marks their feature filmmaking debut.

The project is based on Thunderlips’ 2024 short film Help, I’m Alien Pregnant and is produced by Ilai Amar, Morgan Leigh Stewart, and Alix Whittaker.

Mum, I’m Alien Pregnant premiered in the Midnight section of the 2026 Sundance Film Festival earlier this year.

There’s something inherently funny and horrifying about treating pregnancy as literal alien body horror, and the filmmakers appear ready to squeeze every uncomfortable possibility out of it while keeping the whole thing rooted in that wonderfully weird Kiwi comedy sensibility.

Mum, I’m Alien Pregnant opens in New Zealand cinemas on September 10th, 2026.
