MY BEST FRIEND'S EXORCISM Is Being Adapted into a Movie

My Best Friend’s Exorcism is a horror novel by Grady Hendrix, and Endeavor Content has recently acquired the film rights to the book. Endeavor Content was behind the series Killing Eve and the recent film Colette, and they’ve brought on Happy Death Day writer and director Christopher Landon to helm this new film. Landon is currently developing the film with potential to serve as director. The script will be written by Jenna Lamia, and Hendrix is reportedly on board as a creative consult. Here’s the premise of the book:

An unholy hybrid of Beaches and The Exorcist that blends teen angst, adolescent drama, unspeakable horrors, and a mix of ’80s pop songs into a pulse-pounding supernatural thriller

The year is 1988. High school sophomores Abby and Gretchen have been best friends since fourth grade. But after an evening of skinny-dipping goes disastrously wrong, Gretchen begins to act…different. She’s moody. She’s irritable. And bizarre incidents keep happening whenever she’s nearby. Abby’s investigation leads her to some startling discoveries—and by the time their story reaches its terrifying conclusion, the fate of Abby and Gretchen will be determined by a single question: Is their friendship powerful enough to beat the devil?

I think this could be a decent film. I haven’t read the book yet, but the premise sounds like it has some potential. Who should play the leads?
