MYSTERY SCIENCE THEATER 3000 Kickstarter Collects Above and Beyond Goal, Giving Fans a New Season
Last month, we reported that the creator of Mystery Science Theater 3000, Joel Hodgson, had created a kickstarter in hopes of giving the show a brand new season.
We are happy to report that not only did the effort meet its top goal of $5.5 Million for an entire 12-episode season, but it actually generated $6.5 million- enough to make a 13th episode, which has been revealed to be a holiday episode, which will star the newest poor soul forced to watch bad movies, who will be played by Emily Marsh. The actress previously played Emily Crenshaw in The MST3K LIVE Social Distancing Riff-Along Special, which aired last year.
Another exciting development for the upcoming season is that Hodgson will return to the Satellite of Love as Joel Robinson for the first time since 1993, to host two of the episodes himself. This will be the first time a season of Mystery Science Theater 3000 has multiple hosts. Jonah Ray, Hampton Yount (Crow), and Baron Vaughn (Tom Servo) are returning, and Marsh will be joined by Nate Begle as Crow and Conor McGiffen as Servo.
It’s so exciting to hear that the cult classic series is getting yet another revival! Will you be tuning in?
