MYSTERY SCIENCE THEATER 3000 Returns To Netflix on Thanksgiving

Netflix renewed the cult classic series Mystery Science Theater 3000 last Thanksgiving, and it looks like fans will have something to be grateful for this Turkey Day. The A.V. Club is reporting that the 12th season of MST3K will air on the streaming service this Thanksgiving, November 22. Of course, this mirrors the original premiere date as creator, original host, and executive producer Joel Hodgson remembers:

Thirty years ago on Thanksgiving Day 1988 is when we premiered Mystery Science Theater 3000 in the Minneapolis market. We were competing with 60 Minutes for the same time slot, and I think history has shown which is the better show.

MST3K is a series where the host watches some terrible films with his robot companions and makes a lot of jokes. If you’ve ever watched a movie with RiffTrax (and I highly recommend it) it’s the same thing. In fact, the guys from RiffTrax originally worked on MST3K. The latest host is Jonah Heston, portrayed by Jonah Ray, has been captured by Kinga Forrester, played by Felicia Day, and TV’s Son Of TV’s Frank, played by Patton Oswalt. Baron Vaughn and Hampton Yount voice Jonah’s robot friends Tom Servo and Crow respectively.
