Naomi Watts Set To Star in HBO's GAME OF THRONES Prequel Series

HBO has cast Naomi Watts (The Ring) in one of the lead roles George R.R. Martin and Jane Goldman’s (Kick-AssKingsman: The Secret Service) untitled Game of Thrones prequel series.

There aren’t a lot of details on Watts’ character, but according to Variety, she is playing “a charismatic socialite hiding a dark secret.”

The series is set thousands of years before the events of Thrones, “the project chronicles the world's descent from the golden Age of Heroes into its darkest hour.” The network teased the plot with the following logline:

"Only one thing is for sure: from the horrifying secrets of Westeros' history to the true origin of the White Walkers, the mysteries of the East to the Starks of legend… it's not the story we think we know."

As a fan of Game of Thrones I’m super excited about this prequel series. I love that they are diving deep into the history of Westeros and it’s interesting to see the kind of acting talent they are going for.

Goldman and Martin wrote the story, with Goldman writing the script. She will also serve as showrunner.

Watts is a solid actress that has made some great films in her career such as Birdman, The Ring, King Kong, Mulholland Drive, and more. Are you happy to see her join this Game of Thrones prequel project?
