A new trailer has been released for a film called Penguin Bloom, a story of a woman and her family who have a lot to overcome after an accident leaves her paralyzed. The film stars Naomi Watts (21 Grams, The Impossible), Andrew Lincoln (Love Actually, The Walking Dead), Jacki Weaver (Silver Linings Playbook, Bird Box), and Rachel House (Moana, Thor: Ragnarok), as well as Gia Carides, Leeanna Walsman, Lisa Hensley, Griffin Murray-Johnston, Felix Cameron, and Abe Clifford-Barr.
Here’s the synopsis:
Penguin Bloom tells the true story of Sam Bloom (Naomi Watts) a young mother whose world is turned upside down after a near-fatal accident leaves her paralyzed. Sam's husband, (Andrew Lincoln), her three young boys and her mother (Jacki Weaver), are struggling to adjust to their new situation when an unlikely ally enters their world in the form of an injured baby magpie they name Penguin. The bird’s arrival is a welcome distraction for the Bloom family, eventually making a profound difference in the family's life.
Penguin Bloom is based on the book by Bradley Trevor Greive and Cameron Bloom, and was adapted for the screen by Harry Cripps and Shaun Grant. The film was directed by Glendyn Ivin.
This looks like a heartbreaking story that revolves around the strength of the family in the aftermath of a tragic and life-changing event. Watts and Lincoln look to give an incredible performances, and I am excited to see it. Check out the trailer below, and watch Penguin Bloom on Netflix on January 27th.
