NASA Shares a Cool New 4K Video Showing the Apollo 16 Lunar Rover "Grand Prix"

Last week NASA shared a stunning 4K video showing what the astronauts of Apollo 13 saw as they passed by the dark side of the moon on their harrowing trip back to Earth. Today we have a cool new video to share with you that NASA geeks are gonna love!

The footage comes from the 1972 Apollo 16 and is affectionately known as “The Apollo 16 LRV Grand Prix.” The footage was shot by commander John Young, and it shows astronaut Charlie Duke testing out the electric powered lunar rover by driving over the hills and craters of the moon’s surface.

The footage has been given a 4K 60 fps upgrade and was also visually and audibly stabilized by NASA in 2019 by editor Denis Shiryaev. There’s no doubt you’re gonna enjoy it. I want to drive around on the moon!

Upscaled and resounded version of Apollo 16 mission "Grand Prix" part: FPS boosted to 60 frames per second; Image resolution boosted up to 4k. Source for ups...
