Natalie Portman Believes She's Done Making Marvel Movies
Natalie Portman was perfectly cast in the role of Jane Foster in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. She starred in the first two Marvel films, but it's looking like we might not see her again. Foster will not be included in Thor: Ragnarok and with Tessa Thompson being cast as Valkyrie in the film, she could be Thor's new love interest.
Portman recently spoke with The Wall Street Journal, and she confirmed that she believes she is done playing in the MCU as Jane Foster. She says:
“As far as I know, I’m done. I don’t know if maybe one day they’ll ask for an ‘Avengers 7’ or whatever, I have no idea. But as far as I know, I’m done.”
I guess there's a chance that she could eventually come back. It will be interesting to see how they handle Foster's absence if they even decide to acknowledge it in Thor: Ragnarok. I was actually kind of hoping that somewhere down the line Portman would return to reprise her role when Jane becomes the new Thor. Who knows if that story arc will ever make it into the movies, though.
I guess if Portman doesn't want to come back, Marvel can always recast her. It's not like the studio has never done that before. Would you want to see Jane Foster make her way back into the MCU or do you think they should just leave her out at this point?
Thor: Ragnarok is being directed by Taika Waititi, and it will hit theaters on November 3rd, 2017.
