Natalie Portman Set To Direct and Play Twin Sisters in Dear Abby-Ann Landers Movie
Natalie Portman set to direct and star in a new film based on dueling advice columnists and twin sisters Esther and Pauline Friedman. Portman will take on dual roles as she will play the twin sisters in the film.
The two writers were behind the Ann Landers and Dear Abby columns. According to Variety, the sisters had "a bitter professional rivalry but led personal lives that were equal parts competitive, jealous, successful and loving."
This is kind of a fascinating story that I was never really familiar with. This seems like it would be a solid project for Portman and the fact that she's involved with it is a main selling point for me. What can I say? I'm a fan! She made her directorial debut with 2015 Israeli drama A Tale of Love and Darkness. This will be her second directing project.
The script for the film is being written by Katie Robbins, who is currently a writer and producer on the Showtime series, The Affair.
