Natalie Portman Talks About Her MCU Return and How She Feels About Her Evolved Role in THOR: LOVE AND THUNDER
Natalie Portman is gearing up to return to the MCU in more than a time travel sequence. Portman is returning to the role of Jane Foster — who she first played in the films Thor and Thor: The Dark World — in the upcoming Thor: Love and Thunder, where she will transform into Lady Thor and most likely kick some serious ass. Entertainment Tonight was able to catch up with the star at the junket for her upcoming film, Lucy in the Sky. When asked about accepting the role in the fourth Thor film, she said:
"They came to me with the idea and said, 'We have this idea for you that was a storyline in some of the comics where Jane becomes Lady Thor,' and I was like, 'This is very exciting!'“
She then touched on why we didn’t see her character in the third film, Thor: Ragnarok:
"Obviously, I wasn't written into [Thor: Ragnarok] because of where it took place. It wasn't really on Earth, and my character is on Earth."
She then expressed her love for director Taika Waititi, and the rest of the cast, as well as her excitement for playing this role:
"I love Tessa [Thompson] and Chris [Hemsworth] so much, so it's exciting to work with them again."
"And I'm very excited to wield the hammer," she added with a smile.
Yeah, this is pretty much the dream gig! With Thor: Ragnarok turning out to be such a fun and hilarious film, I think we are all pretty excited to see this film as well. I can’t wait! Are you excited? Thor: Love and Thunder hits theaters in November of 2021.
