Neill Blomkamp's ALIEN Film Will Not Interfere With PROMETHEUS 2 Plans

Just in case you were wondering if that new Alien film being developed by Neill Blomkamp will affect Ridley Scott's Prometheus 2...it won't. The two films are being developed concurrently, and according to Blomkamp, his film will not “tread on the toes” of what Scott is doing with his sequel. The director revealed in an interview with Empire that he had to change one thing in his story, but wouldn't say what:

“I changed the one thing [Scott] felt was bumping ‘Prometheus’ a little bit. One thing that makes me feel good about it is that Ridley is producing it. He likes the idea of what I want to make.”

The movie has yet to be given an official title, but he knows what he wants it to be, and he already sent it to Scott to see what he thinks.

“I sent what I wanted as the title to Ridley. It’s kinda quite bold, and he was like, ‘I really like that.’ So I’m gonna test it, I don’t think it’s gonna work, though. I have my own idea but it gives away too much if I say the title. But in the event that it doesn’t work, I’m dead in the water…”

We know that the film will follow the events of Alien and Aliens, but won't undo Alien 3 and Alien: Resurrection. It will also give a proper ending to Ripley and it looks like Cpl. Hicks will be involved with the story as well.  Other than that, we aren't sure what to expect, but I'm excited to see what Blomkamp is cooking up. Sigourney Weaver and Michael Biehn are expected to return.

Scott is supposed to direct Prometheus 2 from a script written by Michael Green and Jack PaglenNoomi Rapace and Michael Fassbender are set to reprise their roles, and it will follow their characters on an adventure to the homeworld of the Engineers of both the Xenomorph species and humanity.

Prometheus 2 is set to be released on March 4th, 2016, and the new Alien film will most likely be released sometime in 2017.
