NERF Unveils New Mascot: Murph

For over 50 years NERF has gone without a mascot. In order to rectify this, they have unleashed Murph upon the world. Meant to embody a playful spirit, Murph is covered head to toe in NERF darts. You can expect to see him pop up on social media, at retail and pop-up surprises. He is meant to encourage families to play together and get active with, of course, NERF toys.

I know they mean well, and to kids Murph will probably be a delight, my five year old says it looks like a “scary, silly monster” anyway. I think it looks like an urban legend of a cryptid come to life, like it’s the last thing some unlucky teens see before being eaten by it. I think it’s the lack of a face that is getting me about it, it’s hard to gauge it’s attitude just from the stills with no face to work with. Obviously, I, being an adult, am not the target audience to be delighted by this monster. But what do you think, do you like this mascot design? Would you enjoy seeing it in person at events?
