Netflix and Apple Have Each Begun Talks in Consideration of Purchasing MGM for Their Streaming Platform

First we had Netflix, then came Hulu and Amazon, and then the floodgates opened up and we got a ton of new streaming services, some of which I have no idea how to even obtain. Some of the best that have come out recently have been Disney+ and AppleTV+.

I have enjoyed both of these very much since getting them, and I feel like they will be able to last with the best of them. But in order to last, each streamer needs to be able to bring enough that is new and original, and/or enough great classic content, that they can compete with one another and remain relevant and in demand.

So in that quest, Netflix and Apple have each held discussions with the studio giant MGM. If a streaming service was able to team up with, or purchase the colossal company, they would be given quite a library, including the libraries of James BondMad Max, Rocky – including CreedRoboCop, and The Pink Panther, as well as many shows produced by MGM that are current hits on other streamers, including The Handmaid’s Tale.

This would be a huge get for whichever company is able to acquire these rights. It will be interesting to see how it all unfolds and which services are still around in 2030.
