Netflix has announced the main cast of its upcoming live-action Scooby Doo: Origins series. The first cast member, Mckenna Grace (The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping, Ghostbusters: Afterlife, Regretting You), who was recently announced, will play Daphne Blake.

She is joined by Abby Ryder Fortson (Ant-Man, Are You There God? It's Me Margaret), who will play Velma Dinkley. Maxwell Jenkins (Lost in Space, The Bondsman) will play Freddy Jones, and Tanner Hagen (The Pitt, Dark Light) rounds out the cast as Shaggy Rogers.

Per an official logline, the Netflix series is a "modern reimagining of the iconic mystery-solving group of teens and their very special dog."

In addition, the synopsis states: "During their final summer at camp, old friends Shaggy and Daphne get embroiled in a haunting mystery surrounding a lonely lost Great Dane puppy that may have been a witness to a supernatural murder. Together with the pragmatic and scientific townie, Velma, and the strange, but ever so handsome new kid, Freddy, they set out to solve the case that is pulling each of them into a creepy nightmare that threatens to expose all of their secrets."

The series has been given an 8-episode order at the streamer, and with casting locked in, the show should be heading into production very soon.
