Netflix Announces JURASSIC WORLD Spinoff Series JURASSIC WORLD: CAMP CRETACEOUS

A couple of months ago it leaked early that Netflix was developing a Jurassic World animated spinoff series called Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous. Well, the streaming service has officially announced the project which will be developed by DreamWorks Animation. They also revealed some details and a piece of promo art.

The series will be set in the same universe and timeline as the two Jurassic World films. The official synopsis for the show reads:

Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous follows a group of six teenagers chosen for a once-in-a-lifetime experience at a new adventure camp on the opposite side of Isla Nublar. But when dinosaurs wreak havoc across the island, the campers are stranded. Unable to reach the outside world, they’ll need to go from strangers to friends to family if they’re going to survive.

This sounds like it could be a fun show. For the most part, I’ve enjoyed the Jurassic Park and Jurassic World franchise and this is going to be different than anything that we’ve seen before. I like that it’s going to be long form storytelling and I’m looking forward to seeing how that story plays out. Who knows, this could end up being even better that the Jurassic World movies that have been made!

Steven Spielberg is producing the series along with Frank Marshall, and Scott Kreamer (Pinky Malinky) and Lane Lueras (Kung Fu Panda: The Paws of Destiny) serve as showrunners. There’s no word if any of the characters from the original film will show up in the series.

The series is set to premiere sometime in 2020.
