Netflix Brings SESAME STREET To a Whole New Generation with Its Delightful First Trailer
Get ready for a warm, nostalgic, and exciting return to Sesame Street! Netflix has dropped the first trailer for its newly reimagined continuation of the beloved children’s series, and it’s everything longtime fans could hope for.
The series, officially Sesame Street: Season 56, Volume 1, promises to deliver all the classic heart, humor, and life lessons that have made the show a generational treasure, now with a fresh and interactive twist.
Starting November 10th, Netflix will premiere the first four episodes of this freshly reimagined Sesame Street series featuring characters you love, fan-favorite segments, and new ways to play!
For the first time ever, Sesame Street will stream globally in over 30 languages, making this new era more accessible to families around the world than ever before.
Since its debut in 1969, Sesame Street has been a guiding light in children’s television. Created by Joan Ganz Cooney, Lloyd Morrisett, and Jim Henson, the show has been a masterclass in combining education with entertainment for over five decades.
Now, under Netflix, Sesame Street is expanding its reach while keeping the same spirit of fun and learning that’s defined it from the start.
Executive Producer Sal Perez, who’s been part of the Sesame Street family since 2008, shared what fans can expect from this fresh take, saying:
"Season 56 reimagines Sesame Street, inviting children into the action and bringing them hand-in-hand through high-stakes stories, powerful learning moments, and laugh-out-loud surprises.
“And, as always, Sesame Street’s curriculum is designed to meet children’s most pressing needs — so our focus this season is on kindness and compassion, something we can all use more of today."
Each new 11-minute episode will be interactive, immersive, and visually engaging, designed to pull young viewers right into the action. Sesame Street’s friends will continue to explore compassion, kindness, and teamwork in ways that kids can easily relate to, like cheering up a sad friend, learning to take turns, or solving problems together.
And yes, all your favorite residents of the world’s most famous brownstone are back to make you smile with Big Bird, Elmo, Oscar the Grouch, Cookie Monster, Grover, and more.
The new season is produced by Sesame Workshop with Halcyon Person joining as head writer and co-executive producer. Person brings a ton of creative experience, having earned Emmy, Humanitas, and NAACP Award nominations for her work across everything from preschool programming to late-night TV.
This new Sesame Street chapter officially launches on Netflix on November 10th, 2025, marking the same day the show first premiered back in 1969, which is a fitting way to celebrate its enduring legacy.
