Netflix Cancels ALTERED CARBON After Two Seasons
Netflix has canceled its sci-fi drama series Altered Carbon after only two seasons. Altered Carbon was one of their best and most interesting shows, so the fact that it was canceled is extremely disappointing.
This is one of those shows that I would have liked to see go on for several more seasons. The world that the story was set in and the characters that filled it were fascinating. It’s a shame that we won’t get to see this story continue. Joel Kinnaman starred in the first season, and Anthony Mackie starred in the second. They played the same character, Takeshi Kovacs.
The story is set more than 300 years in the future, “society has been transformed by new technology, leading to human bodies being interchangeable and death no longer being permanent. Takeshi Kovacs is the only surviving soldier of a group of elite interstellar warriors who were defeated in an uprising against the new world order. His mind was imprisoned for centuries until impossibly wealthy businessman Laurens Bancroft offers him the chance to live again. Kovacs will have to do something for Bancroft, though, if he wants to be resurrected. Bancroft's request of Kovacs is to solve a murder -- Bancroft's.”
Season 2 of Altered Carbon began 30 years after the conclusion of Season 1, and found “Takeshi Kovacs, the lone surviving soldier of a group of elite interstellar warriors, continuing his centuries-old quest to find his lost love Quellcrist Falconer.”
According to Deadline, “Netflix’s decision not to proceed with further seasons was made in April and is not COVID-related but stems from the streamer’s standard viewership vs. cost renewal review process.”
Altered Carbon was created by Laeta Kalogridis, and it was based on the 2002 novel of the same title by English author Richard K. Morgan. What do you think about Netflix canceling Altered Carbon?
