Netflix Developing a Film For Its THE LAST KINGDOM Series Titled SEVEN KINGS MUST DIE

While fans of Netflix’s The Last Kingdom series are waiting for next year’s fifth and final season, the news has dropped that they are also developing a feature film. That historical drama film will be titled Seven Kings Must Die.

The new comes from Alexander Dreymon, who stars as protagonist Uhtred and exec produces the historical drama, who made the announcement at London’s MCM Comic Con. Dreymon will reprise his role and he’ll be joined by many of the series cast, along with some new faces.

It’s explained that the upcoming fifth and final season “fully concludes the series,” but producer Nigel Marchant said “there was always one more story that we wanted to tell.”

Dreymon went on to say, “It’s been such a privilege to tell Uhtred’s story for five seasons. I’m so grateful to our fans. They have been immensely loyal to The Last Kingdom and thanks to their support, the team is getting together for another round.”

The series is based on Bernard Cornwell’s Saxon Stories, and the story covers a circa-45 year period of history from 866 following the Great Heathen Army’s arrival in Britain, focusing on the resistance of the Kingdom of Wessex to ongoing Viking incursions to Southern England.

Netflix will start production on the two-hour feature film early next year in Budapest, right before the final 10-episode season premieres.
