Netflix Drops First Teaser for Will Ferrell’s Golf Comedy Series THE HAWK
Netflix has revealed the title for Will Ferrell’s upcoming golf comedy series, and it fits the character perfectly. The show is officially called The Hawk, and the streamer also released a first-look teaser introducing us to Ferrell’s character, Lonnie “The Hawk” Hawkins.
The series centers on a washed-up golf legend chasing one last shot at glory, and there’s no doubt it will lean hard into Ferrell’s signature comedic style.
In The Hawk, Ferrell plays Lonnie “The Hawk” Hawkins, a once-dominant golf star who topped the sport back in 2004. Now he’s on the back nine of his career and struggling to hold onto the magic that made him a legend in the first place. His body is telling him it’s time to retire, but Lonnie refuses to accept that reality.
Lonnie believes he still has one final run left in him. If he can win one more major tournament, he’ll complete golf’s Grand Slam. Everyone around him seems convinced that dream is long gone, including his ex-wife Stacy and his son Lance, who just happens to be golf’s rising superstar. Lonnie, however, is convinced he’s still just one swing away from the greatest comeback the sport has ever seen.
The cast surrounding Ferrell includes Molly Shannon as Lonnie’s foul-mouthed ex-wife Stacy, and the ensemble also includes Jimmy Tatro, Fortune Feimster, Luke Wilson, Chris Parnell, Katelyn Tarver, and David Hornsby.
Production on the series hit a small bump last year when Ferrell suffered a minor off-set injury in November. The issue wasn’t serious, but it did keep him from filming a few scenes while he recovered.
Ferrell is also producing the series alongside Jessica Elbaum and Alix Taylor for Gloria Sanchez Productions. The project also has a strong creative lineup with Rian Johnson, Ram Bergman, and Nena Rodrigue serving as executive producers for T-Street.
Netflix hasn’t announced a release date yet, but the first teaser already has the show on the radar for fans of sports comedies and Ferrell’s brand of humor.
