Netflix Film Chiefs Talk About Zack Snyder's Epic 2-Part REBEL MOON Films

This week, Netflix revealed the preview trailer of all the movies in their upcoming lineup. It gave us a look at some really cool footage from Zack Snyder’s Rebel Moon, Millie Bobby Brown’s fantasy adventure film Damsel, the Chris Hemsworth-led sequel Extraction 2, the Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston-led comedy sequel Murder Mystery 2, Harry Potter-director David Yates’ Pain Hustlers, and more.

Director Zack Snyder’s two-part sci-fi action adventure films Rebel Moon were definitely among the most talked-about, and most highly anticipated. In a recent profile from Variety, Kira Goldberg and Ori Marmur, who together run Netflix’s original studio film group, sat down to talk about the films. When asked about making these two movies back to back, Marmur explained:

Zack came in with so much passion. This is a film that he’s had in mind for decades. As you know, he’s spent so much time working on other people’s IP at other studios. We worked with him on “Army of the Dead” and we did things that others couldn’t do. We made a film and then a prequel and launched a live experience. With “Rebel Moon” he wanted to push the envelope again. When we saw how big the world he created was, we thought it would be better served as two pieces versus one film. It’s the kind of story that can continue to grow. He thinks of it as his take on making something like “Star Wars.”

This looks like it’s going to be awesome, and it’s so cool that Netflix is giving Snyder the ability to go as far as his imagination will take him with these stories. Rebel Moon Part 1 is set to be released on Netflix on December 22, 2023.
